Natural Language Processing (NLP) lies at the heart of Artificial Intelligence, bridging human communication and machine understanding. In recent years, Large Language Models (LLMs) have revolutionized NLP, enabling advanced capabilities such as translation, summarization, reasoning, and multilingual dialogue. This talk will cover the evolution of NLP towards LLMs, explain their underlying concepts, and discuss their impact on AI research and applications. Drawing from my experience in Myanmar NLP, including corpus building, segmentation, OCR, and machine translation, I will highlight how these resources empower LLM development for low-resource languages. Finally, we will explore future opportunities and research directions for integrating LLMs into Myanmar-centric AI systems.
